Tony Delroy was on 3LO as I drove home from Dynamo rehearsal tonight and he had a ‘food expert’ guest on whose name I didn’t catch. For a solid 10 minutes they waxed lyrical about the many health benefits and cooking applications of Australian extra virgin olive oil. As I love the stuff it was good to hear it get a national plug but it truly shat me that a blatant 10 minute commercial was getting in the way of the quiz I was all amped up for. Tell me, is there a code of ethics with that quiz that you don’t have your ‘brains trust’ shackled to the internet to help you proceed past the ‘1980’s Hair Metal’ category? That’s for real it was on a fortnight ago. Delroy has a record out called “Tony Delroy’s Nightlife” $24.95 from the ABC Shop. The song selections has some chudworthy moments although Freddie Mercury features so I’m sold. And the dude wears a silver chain in the photo on the front. With the dreamy look down and honey tonsils that work the land 5 nights a week in their prime dangle, that man’s gotta do a solo record, I’ll produce it. Might go for an Eno “Here Come The Warm Jets” flavour. I’ve been listening to that record heaps lately – thanks Mark Garnett.

Liam and I are playing a Bowers Duo show tomorrow (Wednesday) Night at The Standard Hotel, Fitzroy St Fitzroy. 2 sets and it starts at 8:30pm. The kitchen closes at 9pm and they have a delicious baked wild mushroom risotto on the specials board or at least they did last week. If you come you can’t make any of what I have coined malicious mess. I don’t care about accidental or careless mess just no ripping up drink coasters into a bazillion pieces for me to deal with on Thursday morning or loading the toilet with smashed glass and bog roll. I’ll find you. Guaranteed.
